Maine Artisans Collective is a juried cooperative gallery located in Lincolnville, Maine. For more than 50 years, the cooperative has provided a welcoming space where artists and makers can share their work with the public while supporting one another.
We invite Maine-based artists and craftspeople to apply. Our cooperative represents a diverse group of artisans working in a wide range of mediums including fine art, pottery, woodworking, textiles, jewelry, glass, and more. Each piece sold in the store is handcrafted by our members and reflects the creativity and craftsmanship of Maine’s vibrant artistic community.
Applicants must be current residents of Maine and produce their own original work.

Thank you for your interest in joining us. We are a group of Maine artists and craftspeople who have come together to offer high quality, Made in Maine items to the public at our shop. Gathering as a collective allows each of us to have access to a retail location on busy, coastal Route One as well as group advertising, credit card processing, packaging and sales staff representing out products that as individuals we may not be able to achieve on our own.
We offer three (3) levels of Membership:
FULL MEMBER: You are automatically considered a member of the Board of Directors, with one (1) vote per member. As a Full Member you agree to:
Attend meetings (approximately 3 per year) where we jury new members and consignors, vote on policies, collective decisions and clean the store.
Pay an annual Space Fee, based on the size you determine for your display. The current fee is $85 per square foot of space taken up by your display or product. Space Fee will be deducted from your sales at the beginning of the season and does not need to be paid up front. Please refer to the Policy Sheet for more details.
Work shifts in the store are approximately 7-10 per season May-Oct. and weekends Nov.-Dec.
Allow the store to take 15% of your sales to cover store expenses. (If store expenses are less than 15% you will receive a refund check in January or February for the difference.)
Pay a one-time non-refundable “Membership Fee” of $200. Please refer to Policy & Procedures for details.
Allow a one-time “Operation Loan” of $150 to be deducted from your sales to account for off-season expenses. This loan is returnable upon your written request and departure from the co-op. Please see Policy & Procedures for more details.
40% CONSIGNOR: This level of membership requires an annual $60 space fee, but no requirement to work in the store. Your items will be placed for display at the discretion of the members. The collective retains 40% of your sales.
4-DAY WORKING CONSIGNOR: The collective retains 35% of your sales. In addition, you agree to work 3-4 days during the season. Please review our Policies and Procedures for complete details before submitting your application. You may review a copy here: Policies and Procedures (PDF)
All work sold at Maine Artisans Collective is juried to ensure consistent quality and craftsmanship. Applications and submitted work samples are reviewed by the current membership, who vote on acceptance into the cooperative during membership meetings held several times through the year. Applicants will be notified of the decision either at the meeting, if they are present, or shortly afterward by a member of the Jury committee.
Maine Artisans Collective is committed to maintaining the integrity of the gallery by offering only products made in Maine.
